Sparkly Dinosaur

Main Ingredients:

This card was a blast to make! I ran into a few issues, but in the end I am very happy with how it turned out! Issue one: The glitter paper I got from the dollar store was so thin it made wrinkles when I adhered it to the card base. I fixed that by placing my circle cut out and dinosaur on those wrinkles. Issue number two: My card looked too bare! I fixed this by using the little frame die set and adding in a sentiment from the stamp set inside. The stamp set didn't have the exact phrase I wanted, so I used the 2 front and back bits of the saying and wrote in 'congratulations'. My penmanship is a little iffy but it gets the point across!

Bella's Dreams & Imagination

 Main Ingredients:

First things first, I colored my adorable image. Then fussy-cut it out. There is some bleed through on the back of the paper from a stamp I had colored before, but decided I did not like the coloring job. I figured that I could color over the bleed through and my image would still look fine.

Next, I put together my papers on my card base and foamed my image up to give it some dimension. I really wanted this to look like the little girl's bedroom, so I chose 2 patterns that looked like a wall with pictures and then one that looked like wallpaper. I also added the word "dream" with a little doodle on a white die cut piece of paper.

Simon Says: A Siren in the Water

Main Ingredients:
Sizzix Mermaid Stamp and Die Set
Sizzix by Stephanie Barnard Dies
Pun Intended Paper Pad
All purchased from Michaels

Just a quick little card for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which is Mythology/Story Inspired.
You can enter HERE!

I decided to color my girl as reminiscent of the Little Mermaid with her red hair, but I see her as more of a Siren from Greek mythology. Her facial expression has something a bit more sinister to it! I love this new die set I got from Michaels, using a 55% off coupon of course! The paper pad was a hot buy and only cost 12 dollars! Did I mention this cute little Siren was on sale for 40% off too?

I love books! This beautiful stack was a must have when I saw it! I fussy cut out the stacked books image after I colored it and then used my paper cutter to cut out all of my quotes and backgrounds. I really wanted to put that beautiful Dr.Seuss quote on the front of my card, but it was too big! It made my stack of books go over the edge of my card, or my sentiment would have covered the bottom half of the books. It all turned out though, because the other quote from the set worked great on the front and I was able to use the same piece I had stamped out  for the inside of the card.

If I had to do it again, I think I would have used a deep purple with yellow for the background elements. Also, see below my very helpful kitty making sure  my supplies are being pictured just right.

Another challenge another...more dragons! Dragons are everywhere this month it seems, and I am not complaining! I colored and fussy-cut out my little dragon and then added some white outlines with my gelly roll pen. The highlights really help to make the dragon pop, especially when it is colored so dark. I added in the stars onto the yellow part of the background because it just looked too bare there, but I didn't want to add in another dragon.

Peek inside the card. I added in a white background so that it could written in and another dragon outline to continue the theme inside.

I ordered this set the day it came out and it finally arrived today! Ah! It's beautiful! I used the cloud part of the stencil to create a cloudy background with purple ink. My ink pad is quite dry so it actually worked really for clouds. I stamped my images and fussy cut them out. I played around with placement and finally glued it all together. I added a few jewels from a set I got from the dollar store, which I think really adds to the dragon theme. I also added a die cut "amazing" because I wasn't sure what kind of sentiment I wanted.

I created my own pattern paper by using the cute paw print mug stamp from the set and stamping it all over my card base front in blue and red. I fussy cut out my images and used an oval die to create some shapes for my card base. To keep it colorful for the birthday theme I used some My Favorite Things party pattern paper. I think it turned out really well and I am really loving creating patterns with the additional stamps in the set!

Closer look at card fronts.

I had a ton of fun with this challenge! Using the square dies which cut out both squares and frames, I just mixed and matched the different pattern papers throughout the cards. I was going to add some embellishments, but I liked all of the straight lines from the squares and did not want to distract from them. I think if I did these cards again I would have used white cardstock to stamp the sentiments on rather than the grey-they don't pop as much as I would like.

Kitten Fiesta!

I can't say that I wasn't inspired by the Hero Arts newest April kit! I took all of my color inspiration for these cute kitties from the pattern paper. The die actually cut out just 3 round attached shapes from the main paper, so I had to glue back in the stitched loops frame to create the division for the kitties. I thought a black base went better with the more saturated colors for this card. I couldn't find any sentiments that I thought went well with this theme in my stash, so I ended up just using a gelly roll pen to write a simple "For You" on the inside.

Little Stamp Set Big Results!

 Main Ingredients:
Stay Magical Paper Pad from Michaels ($12 hot buy)

Entry for the My Favorite Things Color Challenge. Enter HERE!

I don't know what I love more; the adorable magical paper pad or this ridiculously cute narwhal! Which has different expressions that you can stamp onto his face! Too cute! There are also accessories which you can add onto the narwhal, but I wanted to keep it simple because of the patterned background. I made this an everyday 'just because' card because those are my favorite! You can send them any time and they are always an unexpected surprise.

An oval die allowed me to create a special little spot on the card to showcase this little guy among his mermaid friends. I also continued the mermaid paper onto the inside with a sentiment. I always like to leave a little bit of blank space so that it works with or without additional writing.

A quick peek inside...
